About ppjass

dedicated to preserving, supporting, and celebrating jazz throughout the Pikes Peak region

Founded in 1985 by a passionate group of local musicians and jazz enthusiasts, the organization was created to foster a thriving jazz community built around education, performance, mentorship, and connection.

Today, the Society continues to serve as a vibrant hub for jazz lovers of all ages and backgrounds. Through live performances, educational programs, community gatherings, and outreach initiatives, Pikes Peak Jazz helps keep the spirit of jazz alive in Colorado Springs and beyond.

Our mission

The mission of the Pikes Peak Jazz And Swing Society is to preserve, support, and foster jazz in its many forms while encouraging musicians, educating audiences, and creating opportunities for the community to experience and enjoy jazz music together.

building a jazz community

Pikes Peak Jazz brings together musicians, students, educators, and music fans through a variety of programs and events throughout the year. Monthly gatherings such as the popular “Second Sunday Jazz Affairs” feature live music, jam sessions, dancing, and social connection in a welcoming atmosphere for both longtime jazz fans and newcomers alike.

The organization also shares information about local performances, venues, artists, and educational opportunities through its newsletter and community communications, helping connect audiences with the growing jazz scene across the Pikes Peak region.

supporting education & emerging talent

A core part of the Society’s mission is investing in the future of jazz through mentorship and education. The Pikes Peak Jazz Mentor Program connects professional local jazz musicians with student jazz bands and young performers throughout the area.

These mentorships provide clinics, sectional instruction, performance opportunities, and guidance that help inspire the next generation of musicians.

a legacy of music

Since its founding, the Pikes Peak Jazz And Swing Society has remained committed to enriching the cultural landscape of Colorado Springs and surrounding areas through live music, education, and community engagement. As a nonprofit arts organization, Pikes Peak Jazz continues to create opportunities for people to discover, learn, perform, and connect through jazz.

Our partners & community connections

Pikes Peak Jazz proudly collaborates with local schools, arts organizations, music educators, community venues, regional nonprofits, and fellow cultural institutions throughout the Pikes Peak region to strengthen and celebrate jazz in Southern Colorado.
